Hiking Fun

The pictures are in reverse order in which they were taken. Oh well.

This is the final goal of the hike. Its the beautiful Laconte Cliffs at the top of the mountains. This cliff literally overlooks the entire mountain region. In this picture, a cloud is actually surrounding us - the cliff juts into the cloud coverage. Its cold, but a real rush to be on the cliff.

Jon and Nick celebrate reaching the top of the mountains by taking an obligatory urination break off the cliff into the abyss some 2000 feet below.

Laconte Lodge, the village at the top of the mountain, about 0.5 miles away from the Cliffs. This village is a good retreat area, and very cool.

Alum Bluff. This is me. Yea, 'nuff said.

The actual size of this awesome bluff isn't really captured in the picture. Trust me - the bluff is enormous. Its a sheer cliff going hundreds of feet high.

Autumn sure does look good.

Awesome part of the hike. When you approach the higher part of the base, you go through this wall/bluff. Its a cool staircase right through the wall.

It was a good trip. Hope to do another one soon.
